Ventilation

From the air handling unit to every damper

Econex brings the ventilation system into one view – air handling units, VAV and dampers, rooms and air quality. Add optimisation, commissioning, special extract and common extract when the building needs them.

    VAV and dampers

Every damper is linked to the room it serves and the unit it belongs to, with measured airflow against the designed vmin and vmax.

    • Damper position, control signal and airflow per damper
    • Vmin, vmax and nominal airflow from the design
    • Alert when a damper is fully open without reaching its airflow

    Ventilation optimisation

The optimisation follows damper positions, air quality and comfort – not just pressure. Dampers that keep asking for more air than they can deliver are taken out of control, so the rest of the system is not pushed to needlessly high pressure.

    • Pressure is built carefully when reserve is needed – not blindly
    • Visible which dampers are in or out of control, and why
    • SFP is shown in real time on the units where the optimisation runs

    Commissioning

With Econex as technical partner, the ventilation contractor can use Econex actively during balancing and commissioning – with a shared view of supply, extract and balance.

    • Designed versus measured airflow per damper
    • Imbalance between supply and extract per unit, floor and room
    • Progress can be followed along the way – not just at the end

    Special extract

Extract for rooms with special needs – such as wet rooms, labs or kitchens. A trigger selects a low or high state, and each state has its own fan command and damper actions.

    • Triggers: room switch, binary signal, humidity or AHU operation
    • Dampers set to closed, Vmin, Vmax or auto per state
    • Supervision of run feedback, fan fault and airflow deviation

    Common extract

When several rooms share an extract, Econex controls the extract dampers as one group. The required extract is calculated from the supply air, with an offset and minus fixed CAV extracts, and the remainder is shared between the controlled dampers by nominal capacity.

    • Measured against the required total extract for the group
    • Control signals within each damper's min and max limits, with a dead band
    • Visible which dampers are in the control loop, and what the next calculated step is

    Fire dampers

The fire dampers in the ventilation system are monitored in the fire damper central: end positions, faults and motor tests, with a weekly test that waits until the linked air handling unit has stopped.

    • Open and closed position for every damper, also on the drawing
    • Weekly test that is blocked while the unit runs
    • Test log with travel time and result
